Wendy Hanlon
(B.1999, Winnipeg) Lives and works in Vancouver, BC
Wendy Hanlon (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist currently working on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-waututh Nations. Wendy’s work aims to explore human relationships and the illusions present within them. These relationships and their personal impacts and perceived intentions are dissected in Wendy’s work. Using abstraction, she attempts to understand these influences. With an emphasis on two dimensional artworks, from paintings to print-making, Wendy creates artworks that attempt to understand and express concepts that can seem abstract but are familiar to most. From concepts and ideas on how people change and how we all aim to belong, to how these feelings and experiences can produce injustices from others and ourselves; Wendy illustrates her thoughts and realizations in her work both implicitly and explicitly. Wendy is continuously attempting to better process the world through the practice of creating art.
